Fairmont Hotels to operate the Victoria Golf Resort & Spa in Algarve, Portugal

Hospitality group Accor has taken over the management of Victoria Golf Resort & Spa hotel, located on the Algarve coast in southern Portugal, previously operated by Anantara. The 260-room hotel will be managed under a white label as it undergoes improvements. Situated just a 30-minute drive from Faro International Airport in Vilamoura, the property is known for its beaches, golf courses, marina, and casino.

The hotel is in proximity to attractions such as the Victoria golf course, Ria Formosa islands, and the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail. Following enhancement, it will be rebranded as a Fairmont property, aligning with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts‘ portfolio of golf facilities and natural settings.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts CEO Omer Acar said: “Vilamoura is one of Portugal’s most exciting and sought-after destinations, full of life and energy. Coupled with the hotel’s world-class golf course in a stunning natural setting, this property is an ideal fit for Fairmont.

“We look forward to working closely with Arrow Global Group to introduce the first Fairmont property in Portugal, while continuing to strengthen our presence in Southern Europe.”

Fairmont’s signature brand markers will be incorporated at the hotel. Accor and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts are collaborating with Arrow Global Group on this strategic move.  The property features an array of amenities including four restaurants, four bars, four swimming pools, a spa with six treatment rooms, a gym, a kids club, and direct access to the adjacent golf course. Accommodation options are divided between two wings, all offering private balconies.

Arrow Global Group fund principal John Calvão said: “We are thrilled about the partnership with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Accor, a move that significantly enhances the positioning of the integrated hospitality, sports, and leisure ecosystem we are developing in Vilamoura.

“This partnership is a testament to Arrow Global’s commitment to elevating Portugal’s tourism offering through strategic and high-quality asset management.”

This expansion follows Accor’s recent announcement in collaboration with Propreal Capital Partners to introduce the luxury Sofitel brand to Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city. “Accor takes over Portugal’s Victoria Golf Resort & Spa” was originally created and published by Hotel Management Network, a GlobalData owned brand.

With more than 35 hotels across various brands in Portugal, Accor’s portfolio includes Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, ibis Styles, and ibis, as well as Ennismore’s Mama Shelter.
