Spring is Served: Sloane Place Brings Contemporary European Cuisine to Chelsea

A stone’s throw from Sloane Square, where the first of the season’s blooms are on display ahead of the world-famous Flower Show later this month, Sloane Place is embracing the welcome feel of Spring in the air with the launch of their new all-day dining menu. Fusing European influences with the best seasonal British ingredients, the Spring menu pays homage to modern European culinary tradition, with a refined nod to the restaurant's charming Chelsea backdrop. Although those long-awaited Summer trips abroad are still perhaps a way off, take a stroll down Lower Sloane Street for a taste of the continent.

Set the tone to start with a classic Beef Carpaccio with Walnuts and Tête de Moine cheese. For a lighter affair to kick things off, the Tartare of Yellowtail packs a zesty punch with Avocado and a Light Chilli Dressing, or take a trip to Italy with Burrata with Datterini Tomatoes, Olive Oil and Basil.

Few things can capture the essence of an alfresco lunch more perfectly than everyone’s favourite holiday treat, a classic Croque Monsieur made with Toasted Brioche, Shaved Ham and a Blend of Emmental and Comté cheeses. Add Rosemary and Onion Fries to complete the picture. More substantial mains include a Grilled rib-Eye with Café de Paris Butter, or a flavoursome Grilled Salmon with Sautéed Kale and Pink Fir Potatoes. If last year’s craze for Schnitzel still has you wanting more, there’s an indulgent Veal Schnitzel with Brown Butter, Capers and Anchovies to opt for.

Round off decadently with the Sloane Place Signature Chocolate Hazelnut Marquise, pictured above. If you’re looking to keep the party going, why not continue the festivities with one of their dessert cocktails - Salted Caramel Espresso Martini made with Mr. Black, Espresso and Salted Caramel Syrup, anyone?

Head Chef George Scott-Toft, the culinary lead behind the new direction of Sloane Place Restaurant’s menu offering, will also be heading up The Sloane Club’s kitchen upon their re-opening, and has had a globe-spanning career prior to his new venture in Chelsea. A New-Zealand native, George trained in Australia before going on to work in prestigious kitchens including the likes of Peter Doyle’s est., and Mark Best’s Marque in Sydney. Moving to London in 2008, George honed his skills at Pierre Gagnaire’s Sketch: The Lecture Room & Library, and with Antonin Bonnet at The Greenhouse. After gaining a Michelin star with the team at Serge et le Phoque, George headed up the restaurant at The Mandrake hotel from 2017 until making the move to Chelsea to lead the teams at Sloane Place and sister establishment The Sloane Club.

“The team and I are excited to be sharing the hard work that’s been going on behind the scenes in the kitchens, both at Sloane Place and The Sloane Club, steering the menus in a slightly new direction and renewing the focus on the great British produce that is available to us, especially with the arrival of Spring,” commented Head Chef, George Scott-Toft. “It’s an honour to be heading up the kitchens at two such iconic establishments” he continued. “They each allow an opportunity to showcase the best of classic British cuisine in their own way, with room for a sense of adventure, too. I’m looking forward to continuing to shape the offering as time goes on.”
