Go the Extra Flight-Free Mile With Inhabit Hotels and Byway This Summer

Two trailblazers in B Corp travel have come together to curate 100% flight-free trips which begin and end at Inhabit Hotels in Southwick Street and Queen's Gardens, both just minutes by foot from Paddington station, where the adventures commence. With a shared commitment to wellness, environmental impact, and community-conscious experiences, the partnership is launching with three new bespoke itineraries offered by Byway that explore hidden gems throughout routes to Cornwall, Scotland and The Netherlands. These journeys, powered by Byway’s pioneering routing technology, will guide travellers across thousands of miles of local knowledge, weaving through scenic off-the-beaten-path routes by train, ferry and bus, inviting travellers to find magic in the journey as much as the destination, and connect more meaningfully with landscapes, people, and places - all while avoiding overtourism hotspots and air travel altogether

Itineraries to Cornwall, Scotland and The Netherlands

From Inhabit’s doorstep, a world of adventures awaits. To the West, travellers can follow the winding railways of Cornwall, visiting St Ives, St Erth, Padstow and Bodmin. These relaxed, sea-kissed towns offer a gentle rhythm and a deep sense of place, framed by rugged coastlines and soft coastal light. Heading East, the Eurostar whisks passengers through the Kent countryside and beneath the Channel, crossing into the Netherlands. From there, the journey unfolds through canal-threaded cities: Haarlem, Amsterdam, Delft and Utrecht - offering elegant architecture, vibrant street life and local charm. Further North, the great wilds of Scotland’s Highlands and Islands beckon. Travellers move from Edinburgh to the mountain town of Aviemore, then ride the Kyle Line, Britain’s only train that spans both East and West coasts, before arriving in Fort William and Inverness - a route complete with misty lochs and soaring hills to marvel at along the way. Itineraries are handcrafted by Byway to allow room for spontaneity, personalisation, and that all-important time for reflection.

Consciously Connected

More than a logistical partnership, this is an alignment of philosophies. Both Inhabit Hotels and Byway are certified B Corporations, recognised for their high standards of environmental and social responsibility. Inhabit Hotels were among the first hotels  in the UK to earn B Corp status and they also hold the Green Key certification, a globally recognised benchmark in sustainable tourism. At Inhabit Hotels, wellbeing is woven into every detail - from calming, Scandinavian inspired interiors made with renewable materials, to plant-centric menus crafted by Yeotown, guided in-room meditation, yoga classes and blissful nature-themed spa treatments at Inhale, the wood-pannelled wellness sanctuary. Nature is brought inside with timber floors, jute rugs, woven rope accents, and linen fabrics which create a soothing tranquil atmosphere. Each room offers unique features such as wooden lock boxes for phones, encouraging guests to unplug and unwind. Guests can also enjoy a curated library of inspiring reads, borrow bikes to explore the city, or take part in guided nature walks through nearby green spaces, including Hyde Park and Regent’s Park.

“Our guests seek more than just beautiful rooms,” says Samantha van Exter, Head of Hotels at Montcalm Collection. “They travel with intention. Our partnership with Byway enables them to carry that intention throughout their entire journey, with the reassurance that Inhabit Hotels await their return.”

Train Travel: a Greener Way to Move Forward

In an era where the environmental cost of aviation is under increasing scrutiny, travelling by train is one of the most powerful ways to reduce a journey’s carbon footprint. Train travel emits a fraction of the carbon of flying, often more than 90% less, and offers a level of enrichment that flying cannot: a connection to the land, the people, and the feeling of the beautiful places we pass through. With its deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, wellbeing, and conscious choices when it comes to travel, Inhabit Hotels is the ideal place to begin and end a flight-free journey, grounding guests with wellness before departure and welcoming them home gently, with a guilt-free conscience to boot.
